Review: Makeup removers

As from the previous post on the eye/lip makeup remover, now I am going to share my views on some face makeup remover.
I understand that some face product can be used for eye/lips as well but I would like a more gentle care to my eye/lips ;)

IF you would like to have a full review, please comment below and I will try and do a full review on the products.

For the test, the foundation used for the test is : the Chanel Perfection Lumiere #10 Beige
Noramlly I remove my makeup when I come back home and also before the shower.

Test 1: Nivea Visage Daily Essentials Refreshing Facial Cleansing wipes:

I have not tried various wipes but I have been using Nivea's one for years. I am not sure why I have not used other brands but I keep on repurchasing this. I use this when I go back home for a quick remove of the makeup if I am too tired (9/10 times to be honest everyday) and don't want to clean the face just yet.

As you can see there are quite a few make up removed on the wipes. On the right is using Bioderma sensibio H2O after using the wipe to see how cleanse the wipes can actually remove the make up. As you can see, it does a OK job but there's still lots of residues remained.

Test 2: Lancome Galateis Deucour

Bought it from Boots during November when they do £12 worth of points when you purchase > £50 in store

This is the texture of the cleanser

This is the make up which come out from tissue off and on the right is the remainders after I use Bioderma Sensibio H2O to clean again
As you can see it cannot remove all the makeup and Probably need to wash one more time to remove all the makeup residues

Test 3: Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish
Appologies of the different rotation of the photo

this is a sample size from the YOU box. The full sized one is used up a couple days ago. I am thinking not to repurchase this because the price has raised and without notifying the customers. I don't like firms that do this at all!

The left one is the texture of the Liz Earle cleanser, it's a white creamy like texture and the right is the make off after cleaning with muslin cloths.

This shows that Liz Earle does a better job compared with Lancome one and the Nivea cleansing wipe. But a little residue can still be seen on the cotton pad with Bioderma Sensibio H2O.

Test 3: Eve Lom cleanser

I got it from the Christmas set during the Christmas sale. £30 for the Eve lom cleanser (50ml) Kiss me, Morning cleanser and the Rescue mask. I love this cleanser more than Liz Earle one to be honest because it's doing a better job!

Texture is a bakm like substance

You can hardly see any reside on the cotton pad when using the Bioderma Sensibio H2O cleanser.

Overall:
Nivea does a OK job to clean the make up when I go back home and I normally use another cleanser to remove all the make up before I shower anyways. It sometimes react with my skin and give me itchy ness.
Lancome doesn't do as well with the price. I don't think I will repurchase this one again

Liz Earle and Eve Lom does a better job in cleansing and refreshing the skin. The down side of Eve Lom is that the smell is a bit bad but you will soon get used to it.

I hauled Emma Hardie's balm yesterday and will do a review comparing the three when I have used up more of the make up products~ :)

Please also feel free to comment as I have mentioned, if you need a full review on the product, or suggest some better/similar make up remover to test on, I can do a review about them too :)

    1. Suggest that you buy a sample size, i think it's £4.5 (you can get the muslin cloth from Mother care for a lot cheaper) or a small starter kit to try out. Coz not a lot of people like the consistency of it

  3. Is the Eve Lom cleanser oily?

Instead of using a normal cleanser i use a facial scrub to remove my makeup, and then usually a Simple wipe to get of any residue or stubborn eye makeup. Would really like to try the Eve Lom if it's not too oily!

    1. It's not oily but very pricy... I treasure it a lot and use it 1-2 times a week to be honest... I cannot afford another tube of high end expensive cleanser.

Scrub is not good to your skin, it will make your pores left open (I have over done with my skin and pores are now wide opened on my cheeks)

Plus a downside of Eve Lom is that you really have to massage it and it takes time to do it. If you are in a hurry all the time, it might not be the one that you are after.

  5. Great review! I buy Age Defiance Wipes from Poundland - two packs for a pound and they are brilliant! Lucy Brown from BBS recommended them. I also use Pai, Liz Earle, Palmers, shu uemura, clarins and RMK - got an addiction to cleansers! x
