March Used up items

I have been doing good this month, used up quite a few items...
Just to let you all know, I am going to cancel all the beauty boxes after April to minimise the cost and the items I have. I would rather save up for the summer sales and haul something else :)

1. Nivea Daily Essentials Refreshing facial cleansing wipes
This is my 6th packet of Nivea wipes I believe and I have always used this to remove make up in the evening before I use another make up remover to remove my makeup at night.
To see how it cleanses the skin, please find my review (LINK)

2. Clearasil cleanser sample
This was the 3ml sample from Skincare revolution on facebook. For my review of this product: (LINK)
3. Clarins hydraQuench Cooling cream-gel
It does a OK job to moisturise the skin in the morning, but the strength is not enough to be a night cream/gel. I like the smell of it and the texture is a gel form. I think I won't buy a full size of it because I can find better ones out in the market.

4. Clarins Daily Energizer wake-up booster
It is the clarins toner sample complementary with the cleanser that I've got. The smell is the same as the cleanser and it does a OK job to soften the skin. But it doesn't help absorbing the next step of the product and it doesn't cleanse the dirt on the skin. Therefore I won't buy this again.

5. Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish 50ml
This was bought during Christmas after hearing all the good things about it. It was included in my makeup routine (LINK) I first thought it does a good job on the skin with removing all the dirt and has a nice smell. However, after trying Eve Lom and Emma Hardie ones, I don't like Liz Earle anymore. I think it's the cream form is gently but doesn't exfoliate as good as the other ones and the cream will not melt when using the muslin cloth. Have to do a lot of stroke to remove all the cream on the skin. I don't like the packageing either, coz seems there is some product left in the bottle but I cannot pump it or squeeze it out of the pot. I think packaging has to be improved.

6. Wei White Lotus moisturising cream
I enjoy using this and I love the smell. It is a light cream, and during the driest month, February, it doesn't work as well as good. I think I will have a look at SpaceNK about their skincare products and probably try when they have travel set or something ;)

7. LRBGolden ion cleansing powder exfoliation
I use this to exfoliates my body and face. It's very creamy when added a few drops of water. I got this in a facial shop in HK. I have a lot of stock and recommend to you guys and try~ :)

8. Origins Protect World Moisturiser
I don't like this product because it flakes off when i apply on my skin. I think it's too rich for me.

9. Rituals Yogi flow shower gel
I wouldn't buy it if it's full size in the shop because I think it's too expensive.

Review: Innisfree wine peeling jelly softner

This is a product I bought from Korea last June. It is kind of a peeling gel with a fruity wine smell to it. And the texture is very thick as seen in the picture below

Just for your reference: the cotton pad is from KOSE, and I always use it to do toner mask :P
The consistency is think and without any little blubs to it. The texture is smooth and comfortable on the skin, not much fraction~

After massaging it onto the skin, there're white bits left on the hand, they are the dead skin that have bee peeled off.

You can see the before and after photo, the skin is cleaner and brighter than before. I apply it once every week or two weeks on pop of my normal peeling routine.

The down side of the product is that you have to rinse off with water afterwards and the little peeling white strips are quite hard to removed throughout because sometimes the tiny ones tends to stick onto the skin.

I might repurchase this problem because it is cheap (about 10 pounds) and I like the smell :) But I would like to try some more products (as usual)

Review: Big Skincare Mystery

This was a big buzz on facebook throughout the previous few months. Everyone get a little schalet of sample to try on.

This can be used as cleanser or a mask.
I have been able to try both with this schalet.
I have to say, I love this smell of the cleanser, it's nice, refreshing and relaxing when applying.
The cream form is very smooth~ it seems doing a massage on the skin.

Review One: Cleanser:
It does it job to cleanse it, removes dryness of the skin as well, very hydrating after applying.

Review Two: mask:
It does a OK job. but I am not sure whether it's supposed to be a cleansing mask. What I noticed was that the blackheads are not removed. However the skin is smoother than before with more radiance.

Overall: quite satisfied. and on 1st March (nearly a month ago) I went back to skincarerevolution on facebook page and saw this:

I wouldn't have known it's by Clearasil! and the product is as follows:

LINK: http://www.clearasil.co.uk/vitamins-and-extracts-wash-mask

To be honest, I wouldn't have tried if it's a Clearasil because I haven't heard much about them before. I think the marketing team of Clearasil has done a good job by sending this mystery sample to everyone~ It will make people guess which brand it is and get the people like me who will not try unknown brands to try this product. (seems contradicting here, I am the sort of person who do a lot of research before buying a product and when it comes to skincare, I am very picky on that!)

I think I will be purchasing it when I come across in Boots. However, I would like to try the cleansing wipes first :) I am hoping to try different cleansing abilities of the wipes :)

Haul: 24-03-2012

Yes you are right, another BOOTS haul during the weekend... 3 hauls in 1 week!!! I should stop going to town and to Boots

I think everyone do get one of the 5 pounds voucher for No.7 products. I went there and hoping to get the new wipes from the Beautiful skin line, unfortunately they were all sold out.. I walked for a long time and tried to find what kind of products I should buy and finally got 2 of the No.7 range products.
1. Beautiful skin hot cloth cleanser...
I was not going to buy this because I have too many hot cloth cleanser at the moment. But Chloe highly recommends this and i think I will give it a go!

2. No.7 eyeliner brush. I need a new eyeliner brush because the one that I am having are came with the gel eyeliner and they are tiny. It's hard to control. Hopefully this will help me draw a smoother eyeliner in the future!

Then I went to buy 2 soap and glory hand maid gel for putting in the handbag. they are anticeptic ones and very handy if you need a shot while you are out

Also bought a La Roche Posay mist to try out. This is a tiny version and I can kind of compare with the Avene one which I am currently using ;)

End of the Haul this month (finger cross) and hopefully don't need to visit Boots as often as I did before ;)

Review: Loreal Super Liner Perfect slim eyeliner

To know more about the comparison with KOSE Espirque eyeliner (To review: LINK)

I have been using it for a week. I think it gives a pigmented black on the eyes. It is fine enough, but not as fine as the Espireque eyeliner. I quite like the finish of the liner and it dries quite quickly. However after wearing for 3-4 hours, it starts to flake and fall off, which is quite annoying coz I don't normally go to the toilet and topup the makeup.

I have tried several different ways of using it and the effect (flaking) is the same.
1. just apply the eyeliner on its own
2. apply eye primer then the eyeliner
3. apply eye primer + eye shadow then eyeliner

I cannot prevent it from flaking.. I don't think it is waterproof at all either. I think I have to leave it alone or re-visit it after a while. Probably winter will be a good time to test again. :)

Regret Review: Beauty face masks from wowwcher

It is a quick review because i haven't got much to say about these masks.

I have used the masks and they do nothing to me to be honest. I got it in a deal for 19.95 pounds about a month ago and started using them. I was caught by the fact taht it's a gel and collagen mask.

The mask would not fit the face after adjusting and slides off all the time. There are lots of bubbles taht I cannot get rid of under the mask and not smoothing at all. The cleansing does not do much on cleansing bit and it is not norishing and hydrating at all. Basically I don't think that it's worth buying. I am quite disappointed because I could have spent the same amount of money for a better or or another Origins Drink Up intensive which does a better job than these face masks

Review: Rituals Yogi Flow

This came in the December Glossybox. I have just finished the bottle and I think it's the right time to do a review on it. The shower gel lasted me for 2 weeks (is that quick or normal?)

When you press the pump, the shower gel is automatically form form on your hand, like the picture below

I love the smell of it and the foam is so soft~~~ I love this shower foam. It makes me relax during shower. However I think 2 weeks for £ 6.50 is a bit too much for a shower gel. Therefore I don't think I am going to purchase a full sized shower gel unless it's on sale or in good deals.

Alert! Glossybox special edition: HARRODS

Just realised that I haven't done a review on the March Glossybox, Hope it won't be too late to show what I got this month.

I really like the colour of the box

I like the Harrods Sticker and the ribbon :)

Things that I got from this box:
1. Clarins Extra Firming Body Cream

I am OK with this. I have sent it to Nina who is a Big fan of Clarins ;) I am sure she loves it!

2. YSL Forever youth Serum

I have to say it does it job well. But with the price and the smell, I don't think I will be purchasing a full size of this~ probably saving the $$ for other better serum

3. Naroiso Rodriguez for her perfume

The scent of the perfume is not my cup of tea. I prefer more fruity and flowery ones ;)

4. Molten Brown shower gel

Love the smell of it!!! it's queueing on my shelf for review ;)

5. Burberry rosewood No.2 lipstick

This is the best product in the box~ I'm loving it!!!!

A full picture of the box:

Overall comment:
To be honest, I love this box and I think this is the best Glossybox I have ever had! (probably the best beautybox!) I have read other blog posts and I love all the 3 boxes that Glossybox does this month. I was going to get a second one, but I am saving the money for other stuff. Actually this is the box that I love the most in the three they do this month but would like to try other products as well :)

Keep it up, glossbox, hope you will give more surprises to us after joining force with Carmine

Review: Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation

PERFECTION LUMIÈRE - LONG-WEAR FLAWLESS FLUID MAKEUP SPF 10
This is copied from the Chanel website, the colour is #10

The colour suits me very well I have to say, it is light weight, watery in texture. I love the texture a lot and I would consider to buy it WHEN I APPLY FOR IT. It is long-wearing and everything is good. However, 4-5 hours after I put this foundation on, horrible things happens which changes my mind completely.

The foundation oxidises which leaves a weird colour to my skin, it's yellowy and grey (and getting darker and darker) and I don't like the colour. It makes my skin to look dull and seems like I am wearing a mask. Therefore it completely put off and out of my list. I thought it was just me and I am sure I am not alone after doing more research about this foundation. I discovered that a lot of the bloggers have the same experience.

This is my first time going to Chanel's counter. I read from Hakme's blog (click here to link to her blog) about the aqua foundation that she loved it. I have similar skin type as hers and would like to try. When I went to the counter, a Chinese BA came to me and said that AQUA one would not suit me because the colour is more for the pink undertone people and this one will suit me better. And it's completely wrong. Might go back again and try the other foundation and see how it looks. But it was quite a disappointment to find out that for that high price, Chanel's  foundation does not do its job properly. Please leave me comments for what you think about this foundation :) and DO CHECK ON Hakme's blog, she has detailed review on the products that she uses

Tagged: 11 Questions

11 Questions Tag

Hello beauties! This is my first ever tag~
I was tagged by Chloe from Giada Beauty (Link to her blogto answer these 11 questions.
You have to answer 11 questions then tag 11 people to answer your own individual 11 questions!

It has been a long time since my last tag was. I think it was back in the xanga period where there were about 100 questions in the tag.

Here are the questions which I have been asked:
1. When did you start your blog and why?
I started this beauty blog in Jan this year. The reason why.... I am still unsure. Probably sharing all the beauty tips with all my friends ;)

2. What are the top 3 beauty products which you cannot live without?
Estee Lauder Hydrationist serum --> I know I have said this for many times
Eyeliner, any eyeliner.. I have double eyelids but it's folded in a way that seems to be a single one. I need an eyeliner to line back my eyes and make it bigger!

3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
Probably Japan. I love JAPAN!!!!!! Just love everything there!! Have been to Japan for 7 times in 12 years I think :) (first time to Japan was 25 Dec, 2000)

4. Which is your favorite movie?
Should be Love Actually. Watch it every year during Christmas

5. What makes you happy?
I am a cheerful person, therefore a little treat can make me happy.. or a joke will do~

6. Which is your favorite Lipstick?
At the moment should be MAC.. but I am not sure because haven't tried the Revlon Lip butter :)

7. High heels or Flats?
Heels. I love heels but seldom wear them coz I am a bit too tall with heels :P

8. Which is your most want product in this month?
I was going to say Revlon Lip butter. But I got it today... So should be Dolly Wink eyeliner or Canmake blushes

9. Which is the most weird (or if you consider disgusting) food you have tried/eaten?
Live Octopus.... Eating the octopus when it's still moving

10. Do you sing in the shower?
No, not really

11. Name 5 of your favorite books.
Steve Jobs, Harry Potter, (going to cheat here) All the books about travelling, cooking and beauty :)

MY TAG QUESTIONS ARE:
1. What are the items that must be in your bag
2. Where is your favourite city and why
3. What is the most expensive and cheapest product in your beauty collection?
4. If you have to use an animal to describe yourself, which one do you think you are?
5. Which shade(s) are your favourite MAC lipsticks (Maximum 3)
6. Which drink do you normally order when you go to Starbucks or Costa?
7. Name a thing that you cannot live without.
8. If you only have 3 minutes to do your skincare and makeup routine, what kind of products that you cannot live without?
9. What is your favourite TV show?

Hard to find 11.. will do for now ;)

Haul 20/03/2012

Finally, I found Relvon Lip butter in my local store. They are on offer too, 2 for 10 pounds and I've got 4 of them out of the 14 lip butter collection

Haven't swatched them. They are still brand new in the tube.. I am thinking whether I should change the Creme Brulee or Marcaroon one to Cupcake. Any suggestions? I like more of the nudy/pinky/coraly colour

Then I went to MAC counter and got a lipstick

I love it very much~ I think it's the end of the haul before my Japanese make up collection :) Probably do more review before April when I get the delivery from Japan!

Once again thank you very much

I am truly thankful for all your comments and recommendations... Please allow me to reply all of your comments in this space~

I am very touched when I saw 16 different bloggers' comment. I am delightful to meet all of you.

I am a 20+ girl doing her master at the moment in the southern part of UK where it's near to London~ My daily routine normally is just studying, eating, eating and skincare routine. Just recently have the chance to try different makeup (I am those sort of girls who don't like putting makeup on actually).

I am surprised that a lot of you would like to see me making a makeup tutorial. I think I will update one when I have found the suitable foundation for myself. Currently, I am trying different foundations, from drugstore to high end department stores, ranging from cream base, liquid base and mineral base foundation. Unfortunately I haven't found one which suit me the best. Please suggest some good ones to me and I will try and get samples of. So far I have tried, Garnier BB cream (actually I like it but sometimes I think it's too heavy), Rimmel Wake me up, Estee Lauder Double Wear, Lancome the new one, Chanel Lumerie (the new one), Bare Minerals Mineral powder, Everyday minerals mineral powder.

To be honest, I am a very shy girl, and I don't want to scare you all with my 'ugly' look. I don't think I will post any pictures of myself actually in outfit or make up. I will try my best to find a way to do both ways ;)

I will do the same way that I have, giving you all the true comments from my heart and hope you enjoy reading my posts! I will have a Japan haul pretty soon (hopefully within a month) and I cannot wait to share with you all what I've got!! :)

Comfort zone replacement from She said beauty box

If you have read my blog posts, you will know that the comfort zone cream from March She Said Beauty box was off. I contacted the customer service and they agreed to send me a replacement.
If you want to know more about it, please find the link below:
http://dorothyinbeauty.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/first-ever-she-said-beauty-box.html

I got the replacement yesterday (16/03/2012) and I was quite pleased with what they give me. Although it is not the same set of products originally but still have a bunch of skincare products to try on. They are of a whole set range.

First of all, I got a letter from Comfort Zone for their apologies:

There are 3 products that are included in the replacement:

Comfort zone renight recover cream

Face expert kit

It's a full skincare range

and the third is in an envelope too:

I am going to try them all when my skin condition is a bit better. at the moment it's very unstable and wouldn't dare to change the whole routine and test on these.

To be honest, I am OK with the replacement. It would be better if the replacement come in a bigger bottle, e.g. 5ml sample to try on. Satches are not easy to test whether a product is good or not. But as I said I am happy for the replacement, the CS is good and will try when my skin condition is a bit 'healthier'.

Review: Makeup removers

As from the previous post on the eye/lip makeup remover, now I am going to share my views on some face makeup remover.
I understand that some face product can be used for eye/lips as well but I would like a more gentle care to my eye/lips ;)

IF you would like to have a full review, please comment below and I will try and do a full review on the products.

For the test, the foundation used for the test is : the Chanel Perfection Lumiere #10 Beige
Noramlly I remove my makeup when I come back home and also before the shower.

Test 1: Nivea Visage Daily Essentials Refreshing Facial Cleansing wipes:

I have not tried various wipes but I have been using Nivea's one for years. I am not sure why I have not used other brands but I keep on repurchasing this. I use this when I go back home for a quick remove of the makeup if I am too tired (9/10 times to be honest everyday) and don't want to clean the face just yet.

As you can see there are quite a few make up removed on the wipes. On the right is using Bioderma sensibio H2O after using the wipe to see how cleanse the wipes can actually remove the make up. As you can see, it does a OK job but there's still lots of residues remained.

Test 2: Lancome Galateis Deucour

Bought it from Boots during November when they do £12 worth of points when you purchase > £50 in store

This is the texture of the cleanser

This is the make up which come out from tissue off and on the right is the remainders after I use Bioderma Sensibio H2O to clean again
As you can see it cannot remove all the makeup and Probably need to wash one more time to remove all the makeup residues

Test 3: Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish
Appologies of the different rotation of the photo

this is a sample size from the YOU box. The full sized one is used up a couple days ago. I am thinking not to repurchase this because the price has raised and without notifying the customers. I don't like firms that do this at all!

The left one is the texture of the Liz Earle cleanser, it's a white creamy like texture and the right is the make off after cleaning with muslin cloths.

This shows that Liz Earle does a better job compared with Lancome one and the Nivea cleansing wipe. But a little residue can still be seen on the cotton pad with Bioderma Sensibio H2O.

Test 3: Eve Lom cleanser

I got it from the Christmas set during the Christmas sale. £30 for the Eve lom cleanser (50ml) Kiss me, Morning cleanser and the Rescue mask. I love this cleanser more than Liz Earle one to be honest because it's doing a better job!

Texture is a bakm like substance

You can hardly see any reside on the cotton pad when using the Bioderma Sensibio H2O cleanser.

Overall:
Nivea does a OK job to clean the make up when I go back home and I normally use another cleanser to remove all the make up before I shower anyways. It sometimes react with my skin and give me itchy ness.
Lancome doesn't do as well with the price. I don't think I will repurchase this one again

Liz Earle and Eve Lom does a better job in cleansing and refreshing the skin. The down side of Eve Lom is that the smell is a bit bad but you will soon get used to it.

I hauled Emma Hardie's balm yesterday and will do a review comparing the three when I have used up more of the make up products~ :)

Please also feel free to comment as I have mentioned, if you need a full review on the product, or suggest some better/similar make up remover to test on, I can do a review about them too :)
